Apartment

The flat where we are living is really nice. It's very new and everything has been recently updated. We're kind of in the heart of probably the biggest tourist area in Barcelona (Las Ramblas) so food and everything else is very expensive. The streets are packed all day and all night. Lot of fun though. We're a very pleasant 15 minute walk to the beach and Port Vell.

Our kitchen is the nicest of all the other students apartments that I have seen. Very new appliances and everything.

We have two balconies that look out over an alley off of Las Ramblas. Our alley is really really busy pretty much all day and all night. Very loud. Hard to sleep...

Our bathroom is also the nicest I've seen of all of the students.

Adventure Numero 1

I decided to get on the metro and see where I ended up. Wound up in the Barri Gothica. It's the oldest part of the city. Has a lot of really amazing buildings - cathedrals and old Roman style churches.

Bad angle of La Catedral. It seems like all of the major cathedrals and stuff like that that are kind of iconic Barcelona are going under lots of renovation. It's hard to even see this one because of all of the resoration stuff going on. It's kind of the same thing with La Sagrada Familia (a Gaudi building...I don't have pictures yet because I forgot my camera when we went and saw it but I'll go back).

I'm not really sure what these buildings were but I liked them so I took a picture.

I really liked this little walkway thing so I took a couple of pictures of it.

And another. There were four but there was some crazy big tour group coming up behind me so I got out of their way and left the area.

Not sure what this is. But it looks nice.

It's really hard to see in the picture but this window was really really cool stained class.

First Night

Hotel room first night. Nice bed set up eh? ....a little awkward.

Here is an image of the apartment I will be living in in Barcelona. It is located less than a mile from the Mediterranean, about a tenth of a mile from La Rambla, and a quarter mile from the Barri Gothic.
